About Carsten Mell
"How long do you work in a day?" I have been asked recently - "I do not work; I follow my passion for several hours a day."
Illustration is more for me than making a living, it is my life. And so I am happy about almost every job there is to illustrate.
Having an arts degree in design from Dusseldorf University Of Applied Sciences I have been a professional illustrator since 1995 - and I have a very wide portfolio from sweets displays for children to top publishing titles like covers for "SPIEGEL"
magazine, "Welt am Sonntag", "Bild" newspaper, Financial Times, FHM, Playboy, ad motives for Warner Brothers, FC Bavaria Munich, Hamburg Freezers and top ad agencies from all over the world.
But even erotic motives are part of my work - the comic strip series "Rooie Oortjes" is translated into five languages and published in ten countries.
It is not just the big budgets and clients that grip me, smaller businesses and publications do have their charm, too.
