About Carsten Mell
I was recently asked: "How many hours do you work per day?" I responded that I don't consider this work; I follow my passion for several hours each day.
Illustrating is about more than making a living, it is my life. I am happy with almost every opportunity to create a new illustration.
I received my bachelor's degree in design from Dusseldorf University Of Applied Sciences and have been a professional illustrator since 1995. I have a very expansive portfolio that ranges from illustrations for children's candy displays to the front covers of top publications such as SPIEGEL,
Welt am Sonntag, Bild, Financial Times, FHM, and Playboy. I have also developed advertisements for Warner Brothers, FC Bavaria Munich, the Hamburg Freezers and top advertising agencies across the globe.
Erotic graphics are also part of my work: the comic strip series "Rooie Oortjes" has been translated into five languages and published in ten countries.
I'm not just interested in big budgets and high profile clients; I find that smaller businesses and publications also have their own charm.
